Did COVID affect your business model? If so, how did you pivot?
Karen Wilson, Advanced Physical Therapy: In outpatient physical and occupational therapy, our mission is still the same in that we continue to strive to treat the overall physical health, fitness, and quality of life of individuals by treating our patients with the highest quality, comprehensive, and individualized therapy services possible. COVID-19 has brought some changes to our business model in that we are now able to provide physical and occupational therapy via telehealth to our patients that are high risk during the pandemic. This has allowed our patients, including our aging population of patients, to continue to receive physical and occupational therapy during this time. We have been able to utilize technology to help us improve our patient’s lives, in the physical sense as well as socially and emotionally, while providing them with great care. Insurance has paid for these alternative treatment methods and it has been a good adjunct to the services that we normally provide in the clinic.
